Thomas G. Berstene is President and founder of WorkForce Planning Associates, Inc. Tom has nearly twenty years experience working in the areas of evaluations, strategic planning, and organizational planning.

Before founding WFPA, Tom worked for Aetna, Inc. as a Senior Education Evaluator. Additionally, Tom served as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve; he retired as a Lieutenant Commander after twenty-seven years of service.

Tom's variety of professional experiences included overseeing numerous evaluation studies for training development, customer satisfaction programs, and employee satisfaction programs. This experience also included several benchmarking and research project studies.

Tom is a certified auditor and a retired member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Additionally, Tom is a member of the American Evaluation Association (AEA) and the International Society for Performance and Improvement (ISPI).

Michael C. BersteneMichael C. Berstene is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WorkForce Planning Associates, Inc. He has over thirty years experience working within the fields of Information Technology and Knowledge Management.

Before beginning his work with WFPA, Mike managed the IT Education and Human Factors Engineering processes for Aetna, Inc. In this capacity, Mike supervised the evaluation of numerous types of IT business systems, as well as software development testing. In his role as a Knowledge Management leader, Mike directed and administered the design and implementation of Aetna’s "Balanced Scorecard" process, as well as the program integration with the Aetna Learning Center.

In addition to Mike’s work with Aetna, he is the immediate past president of the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, and a valued member of the Board of Directors. Under Mike’s direction, Habitat for Humanity tripled the number of homes built per year.

Matthew P. GillenMatthew P. Gillen is a Technical Writer, Process Analyst, and Content Developer with WorkForce Planning Associates, Inc. He is a graduate of Bentley University, BS, Information Design and Corporate Communication (IDCC).

After joining WFPA in 2011, Matt managed a NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection procedure compliance review project and participated in a NERC CIP training development project for  a large regional public utility. Currently, Matt coordinates content development initiatives and provides research assistance for WFPA.

Matt has previous work experience as a Technical Services Assistant with the Bentley University Library for nearly four years, and has worked for Conning & Company, an insurance asset and investment management firm, as an Investment Accounting and Reporting intern.
